Villanova University is a private research university owned by the Roman Catholic Church, located in Villanova, Pennsylvania, United States.

About The University

The school was founded by the Augustinians in 1842 (179 years ago) and it was named after Saint Thomas of Villanova. There are only two Augustinian institutions in the United States, Villanova University is the oldest.

The University sits on 254 acres of land and its 12 miles from Center City Philadelphia. The campus has approximately 1,500 trees.

The campus was formerly known as Arboretum Villanova, but its status was revoked as an official arboretum after the school failed to meet rules and regulations such as planting enough new trees and offering tours.

The campus consists of three named areas:

Main Campus: This area contains most of the educational buildings, administration buildings, Student Center, School Library and Bookshops, Chapel, the main cafeteria and a variety of coffee shops and eateries, the Athletic Center, the Pavilion, Stadium, and many sophomore student residences.

West Campus: This area contains the Law School, St. Mary’s hall, SEPTA Paoli/Thorndale station Villanova, some administrative buildings, a parking garage and accommodation for juniors as well as some seniors who are permitted to live on campus. There are also basketball and tennis courts, soccer fields, volleyball courts and barbecue pits.

South Campus: This area contains six residence halls for freshers, a basketball court, sand volleyball court, barbecue pits, Donohue Court and Donohue Market. There is a stop right behind Standford hall that features the Norristown High-Speed Line.

Villanova University Admission Requirements

Villanova University requires applicants to be near the top of their class, and well above average. Your transcript should show mostly A’s with a GPA of 3.86 and above.

Ideally, you will also have taken several Advanced Placement (AP) or International Baccalaureate (IB) classes to show that you can handle academics at a college level.

Furthermore, you are expected to have an SAT score between 1320 and 1460 or an ACT score of 30 and 33. If you submit an SAT/ACT test score more than once, the school will record your highest score.
