Interview Process

1. Recruiter Connect: Recruiter can contact the candidate based on the candidates profiles on LinkedIn etc., or if any known staff has referred the candidate to the company. If a candidate is good in DS & Algo skills, it is highly advisable that the candidate should participate in Google Kickstart. This is Google’s hiring contest which happens six times annually. If the performance in those competitions is above average, the recruiters will contact you with ease.

2. Interview Rounds: Google has a total of seven interview rounds. First 2 are telephonic interviews where the interviewer usually asks 1 medium or 2 easy Algo DS problems to the candidate and the candidate has 45 minutes to solve the problems.

However, this rounds are skipped and you directly move to the next stage if your performance in Kickstart is excellent. Next, Google has five on-site interviews out of which four are Algo DS interviews and one is Googliness interview. Googliness interview is usually a behavioral interview.

3. After Interviews: Upon the completion of the interview, you’ll be given a feedback by the recruiter, if your performance is good and the interviews are cleared, your profile will be forwarded to a different team in Google for the team matching round.

In the team matching round the team comprehends your work-style and your interests and you can understand their criteria and the work expectations of the team.

4. Hired: Once the team and you are both comfortable and ready to begin, the offer letter is prepared and sent to you by the recruiters and you are HIRED!

2. Algo DS Interviews (3 or 4 Rounds): These are 45 minute interviews where the interviewer is expected to share a Google Document with the candidate and then ask Medium to Hard problems of Algorithms and DS.

It is advisable that the candidate first explains the solution of the problem to the interviewer and then codes the problem on Google document within the timeframe of the interview

3. Googliness Interviews (One Round): This interview is mostly a behavioral interview to access the cultural fitness of the candidate in the company.
